TESCO is to permanently close one of its stores within weeks after axing its discount chain.
The retail giant closed its bargain supermarket brand Jack’s last year, converting six of the 13 branches into new Tesco superstores, while the others permanently closed.

One of the stores that switched from a Jack’s to a Tesco is located in Kilner Way Retail Park in Sheffield.
But Tesco has now confirmed that this store will close on September 15 because of low customer demand.
All staff currently working at the store will have the option to be redeployed to another store in the area.
There are currently four large Tesco stores and nine Express stores in Sheffield.
In 2018, Tesco launched discount store Jack’s in a bid to take on rival retailers Lidl and Aldi.
It had branches in towns and cities like Hull, Liverpool, Wakefield, Barnsley and Edgehill.
But just four years later, the retailer announced that it was closing all Jack’s stores. Around 130 jobs were affected by the decision.
The supermarket giant said it “learned a tremendous amount” from the business, which was named after founder Jack Cohen.

Soaring inflation has left shoppers strapped for cash, and retailers are struggling to get customers to part with their hard-earned money.
High energy costs and a shift to online shopping are also taking a toll and many brands just haven’t been able to keep going.
Fellow supermarket chain Iceland has shut 13 supermarkets so far this year, with more closures to come.
Iceland is t close its shops in Portsmouth, Crewe and Birkenhead in the next few weeks.
Wilko collapsed into administration last week after failing to find new backing for the business.
It puts the chain’s 400 stores at risk of closing and around 12,500 jobs on the line.
The Sun previously reported that several potential buyers have shown an interest in Wilko’s business, and one could save as many as 300 branches from closing down and would preserve the most jobs.
Meanwhile, Boots is set to close 300 shops across the country over the next year.
While Boots hasn’t confirmed the exact locations of all, those which are set to shut are said to be shops which are close to another site.
