TESCO shoppers are facing a big change after the chain said it will shut its remaining delis and hot food counters.
One of the UK’s biggest grocers has already removed counters from the majority of its shops, starting the process in 2019.
But it said it will close the remaining amount and hot delis across stores from February 26.
This includes its butcher and fishmonger counters.
Tesco has not confirmed how many employees work on the counters and delis.
But it said all affected workers will be offered alternative roles across the business.
Tesco said it will be reducing the number of team leaders and managers in large shops as well.
The team leader and manager changes will impact around 1,750 workers.
The grocer said the move will see around 1,800 new shift leader roles introduced in stores, managing teams on the shop floor.
The retailer also said 350 workers will be impacted by a series of “localised” changes, including the closure of eight pharmacies and reduced hours at some in-store post offices.

Jason Tarry, Tesco UK CEO, said: “These are difficult decisions to make, but they are necessary to ensure we remain focused on delivering value for our customers wherever we can, as well as ensuring our store offer reflects what our customers value the most.
“Our priority is to support those colleagues impacted and help find alternative roles within our business from the vacancies and newly created roles we have available.”
Tesco has been rolling out a new management structure in around 350 of its smaller superstores over the last two years.
