Tesco is making a major change to 700 stores – and it is good news for cake fans.

Shoppers will be offered a fresher bakery experience with the introduction of some limited-edition speciality bread and sweet products.

The supermarket has re-designed its in-store bakery range and is launching 20 new lines, including six limited edition products.

The tasty new offering will be rolled out to 700 Tesco bakeries this month.

As part of the revamp the supermarket will also include nutritional information on packaging, such as calorie content and daily recommended allowances.

You can expect to see products such as cherry bakewell cookies, and a raspberry ripple tear and share bun, along with artisan breads such as a Halkidiki and kalamata olive batard.

Tesco lead bakery product development manager, Sarah Donovan said: “Times are changing in the baking world, and we’re seeing the emergence of an adventurous new type of shopper who is eager to try more premium artisan varieties of bread and sweet treats.

“But we don’t believe that shoppers should have to pay exotic prices for artisan bakery items, which is why we’ve launched a new range of great quality products baked daily in-store.”

The supermarket chain made some other big changes recently as it announced that it was cutting prices of 30 products across 800 stores.

And savvy shopper Kathryn Leech known on TikTok as @katsaves appreciated the competitive pricing as she made 7 recommendations that are always cheaper in Tesco than in other supermarkets.

Tesco is not the only one making big changes, this week Marks and Spencer announced that it will be removing use-by dates from its milk.

Morrisons was one of the first retailers to scrap use-by dates on milk in January 2022, much to the dismay of shoppers.
