EASTER is fast approaching and so to not miss out on any last minute chocolate deals, you need to know when Tesco will be open.

Reducing hours over the bank holiday weekend is normal, so it’s important to plan ahead especially amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Here’s everything you need to know about when Tesco will be open over the bank holiday weekend:

Is Tesco open over Easter?

Throughout the third national lockdown, stores have typically opened 6am until midnight, with some stores across the country open 24 hours.

Easter weekend will mean more changes to opening times – you can check your local using the store locator tool.

In general, opening hours at Tesco will depend on the type of store you’re visiting.

All stores will be open their usual hours on Good Friday and Saturday April 3.

On Easter Sunday, only Tesco Express stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be open for their usual hours.

Meanwhile, all Scotland stores will be open for their usual hours.

On Easter Monday, Tesco Extra, Superstores and Metro shops in England and Wales will be open from 8am until 6pm.

In Northern Ireland, Extra and superstores will be open 10am until 7pm, while in Scotland, Extras and Superstores will be open usual hours.

Meanwhile Extra and Superstores in London will be open 8am until 8pm, and Express stores will be open usual hours.

All Tesco petrol filling stations are open over the weekend too.

Is Tesco doing home delivery?

Home delivery is operating as normal over the Easter break, but coronavirus and a high demand means you might struggle to get a slot.

Each store has a limited number of delivery slots which are available on a first come, first serve basis and slots are being booked up faster than normal because of the higher demand.

You can also opt for click and collect which costs £1.50 and if you spend at least £25 there is no minimum basket charge which would usually cost another £4.

Currently there are no slots available for delivery over the Easter weekend with the earliest date having limited delivery slots in the following week.

Keep checking your local store’s availability to be sure of the chance of snapping up one of the highly sought after slots.

When are the Easter holidays this year?

This year the spring bank holiday weekend falls earlier than it did in 2020, in the first week of April.

Good Friday is on April 2 making Holy Saturday – which isn’t a bank holiday – April 3.

Easter Sunday falls on April 4 and bank holiday Easter Monday is April 5.

For schools in England, the Easter break starts on Thursday, April 1 and ends on Friday, April 16 this year.

In Wales, schools will be shut for the Easter holidays from Monday, March 29 until Friday, April 9.
