NINTENDO Switch owners are being given another new batch of retro games, entirely free for subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online.

The Nintendo Switch Online service includes over 200 games at no extra cost, across a wide range of classic consoles.

Two weeks ago Switch owners were given free access to the Game Boy Advance classic F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, but this time the games are for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Today's NSO update includes games that have never been released outside of Japan.

Three games are included in today’s update for the app: Super R-Type, Wrecking Crew ‘98, and Amazing Hebereke.

Super R-Type was first released on the SNES in 1992 in Europe, and is a challenging side-scrolling shooter that takes content from the arcade game R-Type II, a favourite among fans of the genre.

Wrecking Crew ‘98 is an interesting puzzle game featuring Mario, but it was never released outside of Japan up until now.

Amazing Hebereke is in a similar situation, having never been released outside of Japan, but it’s one that fans are very excited for.

It’s a top-down party brawler game with a full story mode and uniquely designed stages for players to fight in.

Both Wrecking Crew ‘98 and Amazing Hebereke are only available with Japanese text, but neither requires a lot of reading to complete.

All three games are available right now in the Nintendo Switch Online – Super Nintendo Entertainment System app, which can be downloaded for free for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Subscribers to the base Nintendo Switch Online also get access to games for the NES and the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.

You can also upgrade to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which expands the service to include Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Mega Drive games.

The Expansion Pack also comes with free access to DLC for other Nintendo games like Splatoon 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, making it excellent value for money.
