SUPERMARKETS have urgently recalled several products over fears they may contain glass and metal.

Chicken goujons, bread and fish are among the items which could have been contaminated, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned.

Anyone who has bought the following products is urged to return them to the store they bought them from for a full refund.

The list includes five different Morrisons-branded breaded chicken products, which may contain small pieces of glass.

Packs of breaded chicken goujons in 270g and 650g sizes with use by dates of June 20 and June 21, 2022, should be avoided, as should 260g boxes of breaded chicken nuggets which expire on June 19.

The chain’s 600g breaded chicken platter, with a use by date of June 19, is also at risk, as are 500g packs of breaded chicken steaks which go off on June 18.

Elsewhere, manufacturer PA Ross has warned its white part-baked bread rolls – called Get Fresh At Home Petits Pains – could be contaminated with metal.

Six-packs, which weigh 300g, with a best before date of August 7, 2022, should not be eaten and be returned immediately.

And the list of potentially hazardous foods also includes Co-op’s three-tin packs of tuna chunks – in both sunflower oil and spring water – with best before dates of August 31, 2026, and 2024 respectively.

These may contain small pieces of metal and be very dangerous to consume.

The FSA issues alerts if there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold – such as contamination or incorrect use by dates.

This often means the item is pulled from the shelves, or “recalled” in more serious cases.

Customers must then return the product to the point of purchase to get their money back.

The FSA also issues allergy alerts where there is a food allergy risk.

Products may have the wrong label information, and there could be potentially dangerous contamination.
