THOUSANDS of customers with online orders scheduled next week will face delivery delays.

Several major supermarkets will be closing their doors on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and this means that online deliveries are also disrupted.

The longest-reigning British monarch died on Thursday at the age of 96.

Her Majesty’s state funeral has been declared a bank holiday and several major retailers and businesses have also decided to close, out of respect.

We list all the stores and businesses that won’t be fulfilling the deliveries of online orders on Monday, September 19.

Asda

The supermarket giant is pausing its delivery services and will close all its stores from midnight on Sunday, September 18, to 5pm on Monday.

The stores will reopen after the funeral service and the firms online delivery service will resume as normal on Tuesday, September 20.

An Asda spokesman said: “As a mark of respect for Her Majesty The Queen, all Asda stores will be closed on Monday, September 19, until 5pm to allow our customers and colleagues to recognise the passing of our late Monarch and commemorate her steadfast service to our nation.”

Co-op

Co-op is to close its stores until 5pm on Monday, September 19 and all deliveries will be paused while stores are shut.

All Co-op stores will reopen to customers following the funeral service and deliveries will resume after 5pm.

M&S

Marks & Spencer is to close all of its store and pause its delivery services.

A spokesperson for M&S said: “We will also be ceasing our customer delivery services and pausing operations at our e-commerce distribution centre on Monday 19th September, in respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II”

A small number of stores open in the London area will remain open so mourners in the capital can grab a drink or a bite to eat.

Stuart Machin, CEO of M&S said: “All of us at M&S – and indeed across the country and beyond – feel a real and deep sense of loss and sadness at the passing of Her Majesty, as well as huge respect for the grace with which His Majesty King Charles III and the wider Royal Family have led the nation in our mourning.”

Morrisons

All Morrisons supermarkets will be closed on Monday, as well as its delivery service.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “We are not delivering online shopping on Monday 19th September.

“We are currently ringing all customers to identify alternative dates and times to deliver their shopping.”

Ocado

Ocado shoppers will not receive shopping orders on Monday, September 19.

A spokesperson for Ocado said: “We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen. 

“As a mark of respect, Ocado will be closed for deliveries on 19th September so all our colleagues can pay their respects on this day of national mourning. 

“We are contacting everyone with an order booked for Monday to rearrange their delivery and we’d like to thank customers for their understanding.”

Sainsburys

Sainsbury’s will shut all its UK stores to customers on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. This will also include groceries online.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “All Sainsbury’s supermarkets stores will be closed on Monday, 19th September.

“This includes Groceries Online delivery. Our convenience stores and petrol filling stations will be open from 5pm-10pm to allow our customers to pick up essential items, while select stores in central London will open to serve those attending the funeral in person.”

Tesco

Tesco is to close all of its large stores on Monday in order for its staff to pay their respects. All online deliveries will also be unfulfilled.

However, the supermarket giant said that its express stores will be open until 5pm except for a small number of shops in Central London and Windsor that will be open throughout the day.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: “We will not be fulfilling online orders on Monday 19th September.

“If customers have a slot booked on that day, they will be contacted to confirm the cancellation and will need to re-book a slot for another day.”

Waitrose

The John Lewis Partnership said it will shut John Lewis department stores and Waitrose supermarkets and their delivery services all day for the funeral.

A spokesperson for John Lewis and Partners said: “We will not be making any John Lewis or Waitrose.com deliveries on Monday 19th September.

“For those customers who had already placed orders for that date, we will be helping them to make alternative arrangements.”
