SHOPPERS looking to get bargain leftover Easter eggs can get them for up to 50% less from supermarkets including Tesco and Morrisons.

Easter may be over, but families hoping to bag cheap chocolate treats can get their eggs for less by hunting in post-holiday sales.

Getting money knocked off your hauls will come in handy as families are facing big hikes to their grocery bill under a cost of living crisis.

According to the latest ONS data, fridge staples have rocketed in price by up to 37.2%.

Shoppers could already get £1.50 off their Easter eggs by using a nifty cashback hack over the long weekend.

Now, The Sun has spotted Tesco, Morrisons and more trying to shift stock at bargain prices.

Before you splash out, remember to compare prices online – you might find the same or similar eggs going for less elsewhere.

And it’s not a saving unless you were going to buy the item in the first place.

Here’s all the Easter eggs we spotted for less in big supermarkets.

Tesco – 50% off

The Sun has spotted Tesco is selling Easter eggs for 50% off.

Shoppers can bag the Buttermilk Vegan Orange Chocolate Egg for £3, down from £6.

While the Moo Free Bunnycomb Easter Egg is now £1.75 – it was £3.50 which means it is now half price.

The Tesco Free From Honeycomb Crunch Chocolate Egg was £4 but now it’s £2 – saving you £2.

However, eggs will be subject to availability – when The Sun checked out which Easter eggs were on sale, big brands like Cadbury, Thorntons and Nestle were all sold out.

If you’re looking to order in your Easter eggs as part of your big grocery shop, delivery will cost you £5.50 in London and £4.50 elsewhere.

If you’re looking to pick one up from your local store, then you can use Tesco’s store locator tool to find yours.

Morrisons – 43% off

Morrisons is also flogging cheap eggs to try and shift stock following the Easter break.

When The Sun checked prices using a central London postcode, we spotted Galaxy Enchanted Eggs Large Easter Egg going for £1.99, down from £3.49 – which is a 43% saving.

Also at the same discounted price is the Bounty Large Egg, which was £1.99 and now is £3.49.

However, many other big brands like Malteasers Easter eggs and Lindt Easter eggs were out of stock when we checked.

To check which eggs are in stock near you, use the Morrisons store checker tool to find your local branch and ask for more information.

Remember to factor in the cost of delivery – which can be anything between £2 to £5.50 depending on when your slot is and where you are delivering to.

Asda – 50% off

Although we couldn’t find reduced Easter eggs listed on Asda’s website, shoppers have spotted chocolate treats going for half price in some stores.

One savvy saver posted in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group that her local store in Fraserburgh had “loads of stock” left, and all eggs were 50% off.

We’ve asked Asda for more information on whether there is a nationwide in store sale on eggs and we will update this story when we know more.

Before you take a trip to your local store, it might be worth checking with staff beforehand if they have Easter eggs in stock – and how much they have been discounted by.

You can find your nearest Asda store by using the supermarket’s online store checker tool.

Are other stores are selling cheap Easter eggs?

Other big supermarkets like Sainsbury’s aren’t advertising discounted chocolate online, and Waitrose has sold out of stock online when The Sun checked.

But that doesn’t mean there might not be cheap chocolate on sale in stores.

Supermarkets typically slash prices to get rid of stock in shops to make room for new items.

It’s best to give your nearest store a ring first to avoid disappointment though, as stock levels will vary between shops.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson for example told The Sun that availability of eggs will vary from store to store.

It’s not just supermarkets that sell Easter eggs every year, a lot of other retailers do too – but they might be more expensive.

For example, Hotel Chocolat has cut half price off big Easter eggs – but they are still pricey despite the savings.

For example, this Extra Thick Your Eggsellency Easter Egg is still £15 – down from £30.

Thorntons has also cut prices – for example, this Milk Chocolate Dinosaur Easter Egg was £4, but now it’s £2.50.

Here’s how to find reduced Easter eggs at supermarkets and shops.

Chocolate fans were left frustrated after buying broken and melted Easter eggs from Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

We tested all the classic Easter eggs this year to find which one was the best value for money.
