THE festive period is usually the busiest time of the year for supermarkets, and there are plenty of people needing to stock up again by New Year.

But anyone needing to hit the shops over the New Year should be aware that opening hours are often different than usual.

We take a look at the opening hours for Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons and M&S.

What are Aldi’s opening hours over New Year?

The supermarket was closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

And from December 27 it started opening slightly later at 8am and close at an earlier of 8pm.

These reducing trading times are set to run up until New Year’s Eve.

Aldi will be closed on New Year’s Eve and will reopen on January 2 from 9:30am to 4pm, and January 4 from 8am to 8pm.

What are Asda’s opening hours over New Year?

Asda was closed on Christmas Day but customers were able to return to stores on Boxing Day from 10am to 4pm.

Then on December 27 and December 28 its nationwide stores were open from 8am to 8pm.

On December 29 and December 30, Asda changes its store times yet again and it will open from 7am to 10pm in the run up to New Year’s Eve.

For New Year’s Day, it will operate Sunday hours where you can shop from 10am to 5pm.

Hours will resume back to normal from January 4 where it will be from 8am to 10pm.

When will M&S be open on New Year’s Eve?

All M&S stores were closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year. 

However, it reopened stores on December 27 from 9am to 8pm.

From December 29, trading hours will be extended so shops are open 8am to 10pm.

On New Year’s Eve, it will be open from 8am to 8pm and on New Year’s Day, it will reduce its hours to 10am to 6pm.

From January 3, M&S goes back to its normal hours when it will open at 8am to 10pm.

When will Morrisons be open over New Year?

Morrisons, like all the other supermarkets, was closed on Christmas Day. 

The supermarket also decided to shut its doors on Boxing Day, giving its staff members an extra day off this year.

It resumed its normal opening hours on December 27, when it was open from 7am to 10pm.

On New Year’s Eve, it will reduce its hours from 7am to 6pm, and on New Year’s Day stores will be open from 9am to 6pm. 

Customers can expect their local stores to resume normal shop hours from January 3 where it will 7am to 10pm.
