IT’s the busiest time of the year for supermarkets and as everybody gets ready for the Christmas break.

But anyone needing to hit the shops over the festive period, should be aware that opening hours are often different than usual.

We take a look at the opening hours for Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons and M&S.

When will Aldi be open this year?

This year, Aldi plans to extend its opening hours from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday.

This will give customers the chance to shop without the rush.

In the run-up to Christmas Eve it will be open from 7am to 10pm.

On December 24, it will open at the usual 7am but will have an earlier finish of 6pm.

The supermarket will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

From December 27 it will also be opening slightly later at 8am and close at an earlier of 8pm.

These times will run up until New Year’s Eve where it will reduce the hours from 8am to 6pm.

What are Aldi’s opening hours over the New Year?

Yet again, Aldi will be closed on New Year’s Eve and will reopen on January 2 from 9:30am to 4pm, and January 4 from 8am to 8pm.

Check your local stores for opening times depending on your location.

When will Asda be open?

Like Aldi, Asda will be extending its hours in the run-up to Christmas.

From December 20 it will be open from 6am to 11pm.

On Christmas Eve it will have reduced hours where stores will be open from 6am to 7pm.

For your local stores’ opening times, you can look them up by using the Asda store finder.

What are Asda’s opening hours from Christmas to New Year?

Asda will be only closed on Christmas Day but customers can return to stores on Boxing Day from 10am to 4pm.

Then on December 27 and December 28 its nationwide stores will be open from 8am to 8pm.

On December 29 and December 30 Asda changes its store times yet again and it will open from 7am to 10pm in the run up to New Year’s Eve.

For New Year’s Day it will be Sunday hours where you can shop from 10am to 5pm.

Hours will resume back to normal from January 4 where it will be from 8am to 10pm.

When will M&S be open?

From December 20 M&S stores will extend its opening times from 6am to 11pm up until Christmas Eve. 

On December 24 it will reduce its hours and open from 6am to 7pm.

Check your local stores Christmas Eve and festive hours before you make the trip.

When will M&S be open from Christmas to New Year’s Day?

All M&S stores will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year. 

However, it will reopen its stores on December 27 from 9am to 8pm and extend its hours from December 29 from 8am to 10pm.

On New Year’s Eve it will be open from 8am to 8pm and on New Year’s Day it will reduce its hours to 10am to 6pm.

From January 3 M&S go back to its normal hours when it will open at 8am to 10pm. 

When will Morrisons be open?

Morrisons is keeping its stores open until midnight in the run up to Christmas.

It will open its nationwide stores from 6am to midnight up until Christmas Eve where it will reduce its hours to 6am to 6pm.

When will Morrisons be open from Christmas to New Years?

Morrisons like all the other supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day. 

The supermarket has also decided to shut its doors on Boxing Day giving its staff members an extra day off this year.

It will resume its normal opening hours on December 27 where it will be open from 7am to 10pm.

On New Year’s Eve it will reduce its hours from 7am to 6pm and on New Year’s Day stores will be open from 9am to 6pm. 

Customers can expect their local stores to resume its normal shop hours from January 3 where it will 7am to 10pm.
