A COUNTRYSIDE home that is completely surrounded by water meadows has gone on the market for £2.5million.

The aptly-named Water’s Edge is a 1960s-built house that sits on a plot of land in the middle of over 100 acres of tranquil lakes.

The remote property near the village of Langtoft, Lincs, is reached by a thin driveway that connects to the main road.

It has been owned by the same family for about 90 years, but is now being sold.

The family initially used the site for gravel extraction from the 1930s to the ’70s and during that time they bust the four bedroom house on the land.

After the extraction was finished, the lakes were created.

In the past, two lakes have been used for sailing activities and three have been used for ‘low-key’ trout and coarse fishing.

And the main 33-acre lake south of the house is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Sitting on a plot of land just under 1.5 acres, the home could be refurbished and restyled or potentially completely replaced, subject to planning permission.

The property has a living room with triple aspect windows overlooking the lakes, kitchen/breakfast room, utility room, two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor, with another two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

There is also an attached double garage.

Chris Longstaff, of Longstaff estate agents, said: “Water’s Edge is quite unique for this part of the world. It is completely unspoilt and has never been on the market before.

“You get 135 acres and 104 acres of that is water. It’s an idyllic location.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity and will likely appeal to either a private buyer who wants that peace and solitude or someone who wants to use it commercially and maybe build log cabins and all the things that go with tourism and leisure.

“In recent years there has been low-key fishing on two of the lakes but other than that nature is really in charge at the moment.

“It is a real haven for wildlife, they obviously get a huge amount of waterfowl.”
