It’s been a stellar week for Alison Jones, one of the most powerful British women in the world’s motor industry. 

Being in charge of the UK market for Stellantis — the group which includes Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Abarth and based in Coventry — she’s to take on a global role from June.

As senior vice president for the circular economy, she will oversee its green agenda — reducing waste and improving the profitable recycling of its cars. 

Stellantis said: ‘She has a strategic vision that reflects the environmental commitment of Stellantis to set up a sustainable and profitable business.’ 

The news came as she was honoured in the prestigious Autocar Awards at Silverstone race circuit for ‘steering the firm’s recent merger through the most turbulent of waters’.

She said: ‘I like jobs that are really interesting. I like driving change.
