Xtreme Chewits are hitting the shelves of the supermarket ahead of summer.

Chewits is a soft chewy sweets that have been around since 1960s.

The retro candy has been re-imagined in a form of ice lollies with three different flavours – apple, cherry and lemon.

The mascot of the brand, a dinosaur, can also be spotted on the packaging of the new icy treat.

Iceland announced the arrival of the new product on their Instagram page with a warning, saying :”These are XTREME(LY) SOUR!”

Shoppers have been excited about the return of the legendary sweet.

One person said: “Omg!”

Another one added: “So nostalgic.”

Iceland is known for its frozen goods and bargain deals, offering customers a range of its popular products.

It isn’t the first time the retailer brings back iconic childhood sweets.

As summer is nearing, Iceland is stocking up on more icy desserts to cool down for when the heat is here.

Shoppers have been spotting boxes of ice lollies based on a retro childhood sweet at the retailer.

Raindow Drops fans are rejoicing because the retro snack has made a comeback in the form of an ice lolly.

One of the oldest treats, Rainbow Drops was first introduced before World War Two and has been a childhood favourite since.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted the new treat on the freezer shelves of Iceland and posted their find on Facebook.

McVitie’s is also giving fans a taste of nostalgia with a new limited-edition snack which is already on shop shelves. 

The limited-edition Iced Gems in a Candy Floss flavour have a playful twist on a classic family favourite.

Irn Bru fans are also thrilled with the release of brand new limited edition cans that have a “heavy nostalgic vibe”.

Meanwhile, Morrisons has started selling Angel Delight ice cream sticks, in two classic flavours banana and butterscotch.
