More than 1,600 people have reported issues with DownDetector, which monitors online outages.

Users are reporting issues logging into and opening the app. On DownDetector, 70 per cent of reports starte issues logging in.

Problems have been reported in both the UK and the US.

Snapchat has acknowledged the issue and said it is investigating.

Users have taken to social media to whine about the outage.

Over on Twitter, things got a little more heated.

One person tweeted: “Is Snapchat down because I can’t log in oh my fuck”.

Another said: “Ugh….is anyone else’s snapchat down????”

The Sun has reached out to Snap for comment.

What should you do if your Snapchat goes down?

The Snapchat Support Twitter firstly suggests manually update your app in the App Store following a crash.

Once you’ve updated, make sure to quit and restart the app.

If this failed then users should visit the website and go to the section labelled “My Snapchats have disappeared”.

By pressing “yes” next to “still need help” you can fill out a form with more assistance.
