Network enlists locals as they re-record mispronounced placenames for on-board announcements
There are many things wrong with the north of England’s railway network: 11th-hour cancellations, dilapidated Victorian infrastructure, two-carriage trains that ought to be six.
To this list, we can now add: mispronunciation of stations. It is a problem that operator Northern Rail has promised to remedy – with passengers’ help.
