SKY customers have been dealt a double blow after Netflix banned account sharing.

The broadcasting giant has confirmed that households willing to fork out the extra £4.99 through their Sky bill aren’t allowed.

Many of Sky’s packages include Netflix as standard within your bill, meaning you don’t need to subscribe to the streaming service separately and add it to your box.

Others like Virgin and BT also offer similar bundles.

Netflix recently revealed that it’s long-dreaded account sharing restrictions would come into place across the UK and US.

Bill payers can opt to add an extra member on for £4.99 per month.

But for some reason it’s not possible to do this if you’re subscribed to Netflix via Sky.

Writing on its website, the firm said: “As your Netflix account is linked to your Sky bill, you won’t be able to share it with a different household by adding extra members.

“This option is currently only available through Netflix directly.

“People who are not in your household will need to go to the Netflix website to sign up for their own Netflix account.”

It’s even more of a headache if you’re using someone else’s Netflix on your Sky devices.

Sky says the Netflix account owner will have to contact Netflix to unlink the two.

You’ll then have to sign up for your own Netflix account.

Some Netflix fans have threatened to quit over the move.

But others believe they’ve found a cheeky workaround to avoid the extra charges.
