SKY customers can cash in their unused data to get hundreds of pounds worth of free vouchers.

If you have a phone contract with the company and don’t use your monthly allowance of data, you can swap it for coupons to spend in the Sky store.

Sky allows customers to save up unused data, which can be traded in for vouchers.

If you don’t use all of your data in a given month it will be stored in your “Sky Piggybank”.

If you’re a Sky customer it might be worth checking how much you’ve got saved up, as you could have £100s worth of vouchers.

We explain how to swap your data and how the voucher system works.

What is Sky Piggy Bank?

At the end of every month, any data that you don’t use is transferred into your Sky Piggybank.

For example, if you get 10GB of data a month on your phone plan, but you only end up using 8GB – 2GB of that would be moved into the pot.

If that happened every month for four months, you’d end up with 8GB stashed away in the piggybank.

You can dip into it and use the data whenever you like – either to access the internet or to swap for Sky Store vouchers.

If you regularly don’t use your internet allowance you could think about swapping on to a contract with less data when it comes to upgrade.

That could work out cheaper in the long run, but do make sure you have enough data for your needs as its expensive to buy as an add on.

How can I swap my data for vouchers?

You can buy one £10 voucher with 25GB of unused data.

You need to spend it in at least 1GB chunks, for example, you can’t trade in just 0.45MB.

You’ll also have to wait until you’ve had at least one billing period before you can start collecting vouchers.

To get a voucher you have to go to the mobile accessories section in the Sky shop and sign in with your login details.

You can buy one voucher at a time – to buy more than one you need to process them as separate orders.

You can cash in your Piggybank data as often as you against devices, accessories or special offers.

Customers can only have 50 valid vouchers at any one time.

Once you’ve swapped your data for a voucher, they’ll be sent to you in the post within 10 working days.

Where can I spend my vouchers?

You can redeem your vouchers on the Sky Store website, where you can buy and rent the latest film and TV shows.

You can also use trade in your data for other rewards including money off phones, tablets, headphones and other tech.

Make sure you use them within three years otherwise it will expire.

For example, data added in January 2017 would have run out in December 2019.

But if it was added in February 2017 it would have lasted until January 2020.

Major phone networks including BT, EE, Vodaphone and TalkTalk are hiking customers’ bills this year.
