GET YOUR STENCIL ON: Rather than stripping tiles and starting again, TikTokkers Scarlett and Ben (@westonroadrenovation) suggest picking up tile stencils and using these to paint over your originals. Etsy is a good place to shop.
FASHION A FEATURE WALL: Why not copy TikTokker Shannan Eaves (@shannaneaves), who used tape to create geometric shapes on her walls, before filling them in with pastel colours?
Once the paint had dried, she took off the tape to reveal a stylish feature wall.
Frogtape is more expensive than standard crepe paper masking tape, but it’s better at stopping paint from seeping over the lines and is easier to remove.
CUPBOARD LOVE: Instagrammer Charlotte Greedy (@missgreedyshome) from Wales updated her kitchen without breaking the bank by covering her cupboards with hard-wearing paint. She also saved a fortune with vinyl flooring from B&M that looks like tiling.
SECRET’S GROUT: Instagrammer Whinnie Williams (@whinniewilliams), a presenter on BBC Three’s Flat Out Fabulous, recommends grout pens to paint over the lines between tiles in your bathroom. For a modern and original look she suggests going bold with bright blue. Pick up a pen for as little as £4.
OUT OF THE CLOSET: Make a walk-in wardrobe on a budget like Instagrammer Megan Righelato (@megsathome), who used Ikea Pax units – which start from £40 – and updated the handles for a luxe look.
COVER UP: As any interiors influencer will tell you, a rug can hide a multitude of sins, from carpet stains to threadbare patches.
To cover a large area cheaply, Ikea has the Tiphede 155cm x 220cm rug in two neutral tones for just £17.
