U.S. star gymnast Simone Biles has withdrawn from event finals for vault and the uneven bars at the Tokyo Olympics, Team USA said.
“She will continue to be evaluated daily to determine whether to compete in the finals for floor exercise and balance beam,” the team said in a statement.
Biles previously pulled out of the individual all-around competition.
Biles shocked the Olympic world Tuesday when she suddenly withdrew during the team gymnastics final.
Biles, who came into the Games as the heavy favorite, has cited her mental health.
She has received support from other athletes, including U.S. Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps.
“We remain in awe of Simone, who continues to handle this situation with courage and grace, and all of the athletes who have stepped up during these unexpected circumstances,” Team USA said in the statement issued Friday night ET.
After Biles withdrew from the individual all-around gymnastics final, American Suni Lee won the gold medal.
