SHOPPERS have been lapping up bargain Easter eggs that are on sale for up to 80% off.

The Easter weekend is sadly over which means supermarkets will begin to wind down the sale of their chocolate treats.

But luckily for some, it also means that leftover Easter treats will be discounted to encourage shoppers to buy them despite celebrations being over.

And if you aren’t yet sick of chocolate, then you might want to head to your local supermarket to see what it has to offer.

Remember, stock and prices will vary from store to store.

Some of these deals may also only be available in megastores rather than your mini shops though it’s always worth checking.

We couldn’t see that these deals are being offered online.

Here’s what we’ve seen each supermarket is offering:

Tesco

Tesco is selling a whole raft of Easter eggs for less than their original price.

Many of the bigger boxes (one egg plus a chocolate bar or bag) are going for anywhere between £1.50 and £2.50.

Shoppers can also get a box of five Cadbury Creme Eggs for £1.

One shopper in New Malden also spotted that their local Tesco Express is selling a box of five Cadbury caramel eggs for just £1.

Asda

The bargain supermarket is offering up to 50% off on some Easter eggs.

For example, shoppers can get the Reese’s Pieces egg for £5, down from £10, or the Cadbury Twirl Orange flavoured egg for £1.50, down from £3.

One shopper managed to grab the Reese’s white chocolate peanut butter cup for 50p at her local Asda.

While another grabbed a few tubs of the Chick Cake Jar for just 60p each, down from £2.50.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s is selling Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate eggs pouch for just £2, down from £4.25.

Shoppers also spotted various Cadbury’s chocolate Easter eggs, such as Wispa and Twirl, for £1.50.

It also appears to be selling smaller Cabury’s Easter eggs, like Freddos, for 62p.

Morrisons

When we looked, we found that Morrisons is also slashing the prices of its Easter treats.

We could only see one example but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more on offer.

Morrisons is selling Cadbury’s white buttons Easter egg boxes for just 75p.

The original price was £1.50.

Waitrose

The posh supermarket is selling Cabury’s creme eggs for just £1.25 for a pack of five.

it’s 25p more than what Tesco is offering but if your nearest to a Waitrose then it might be worth popping down anyway as it’s still a good deal.

It’s also selling single Cadbury caramel and creme eggs for just 35p – so you’d save 50p by buying a box.

Iceland

Famous for its frozen offerings, Iceland is selling a Terry’s Chocolate orange mini egg bar for 50p, down from 90p.

If you’re after something richer, you can get a Lindt Gold bar for £2, down from £3.50.

M&S

The posh grocery store is selling its famous Percy Pigs for 50% off.

It came out with an Easter-themed selection which were originally selling for £1.85 a bag.

M&S is also offering Colin the Caterpillar packs for 87p.

It’s got large Easter eggs on sale for £3 – some which were originally going for around £8.

Ways to save on food bills

It’s always a good ideas to look for ways to save on your supermarket weekly shop, regardless of where you go.

For example, there are cheap food clubs run by local community groups or charities floating around.

They’re different to food banks because you don’t need to be referred by anyone to join one.

These clubs link up with local supermarkets, who donate food nearing their sell-by date. They are usually run from public places, such as church halls.

There’s also food waste apps to make use of.

The Too Good To Go app, for instance, matches you with local food outlets that have food left at the end of the day to sell for less.

You pay from £1 to £7 for a ‘magic’ bag or box from a local business that contains a surprise mix of products.

Morrisons does a “Magic box’”, which usually costs around £3.09 and will contain at least £10 worth of food.

And don’t forget to check weekly offers – you’ll find new Specialbuy deals at Aldi every Thursday and Sunday which has deals on popular items you won’t want to miss.
