SHOPPERS are furious after supermarkets including Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s “ran out” of ice cream as Brits sizzle in soaring temperatures.
Sweltering customers took to Twitter to complain that there is a shortage of ice cream and lollies in some of Britain’s biggest supermarkets.

It comes as the nation faces another scorching day today as temperatures rocket to 33C, and the Met Office has issued its first EVER extreme heat warning.
Temperature records were set over the weekend, when a tropical blast from the Atlantic thrust the UK into the furnace with the mercury shooting up to a sizzling 32C.
It’s meant that Brits have stripped ice cream shelves at shops in a bid to cool down, according to furious shoppers on Twitter.
One customer tweeted that “nearly all ice-cream is gone in Tesco”, while another said ice-cold treats were “completely” out of stock at hers.
When we checked Tesco’s ice cream stock using a number of post codes, we found the supermarket had run out of Classic Ice Cream Cones in West London, and Carte D’or Indulgent Ice Cream in a chocolate flavour in Manchester.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We have good availability of ice cream across our stores.
“We’ve seen huge customer demand for ice cream and lollies during the recent warm weather, but our colleagues are working hard to make sure our freezers are kept fully stocked.”
Morrisons shoppers were also complaining of similar shortages at their local stores.
One disappointed customer said: “When Morrison’s order is due and there’s loads of important stuff unavailable like ice creams and lollies WTF.”
Another said the shelves at her nearest branch were “near-empty”.
When we checked stock around different areas on the country at Morrisons stores, we spotted a number of ice creams were unavailable to buy.
For example, the supermarket had run out of R Whites Premium Lemonade ice lollies in some areas of Birmingham.
We also checked stock using a number of different postcodes across the country at Sainsbury’s and Asda.
Although we couldn’t see stock issues online, shoppers have taken to Twitter to claim that their local stores are running low on frozen treats.
A Sainsbury’s shopper said: “Sun’s out, runs out (of ice cream in Sainsbury’s Local).”
Another tweeted that his local store had also run out of the treats AND booze as Brits race to stock up on summer supplies.
“Was in Sainsbury’s on Saturday, only empty sections were lager and ice cream,” he said.
Meanwhile, an Asda shopper tweeted that her local store had hardly any ice cream or lollies left, adding: “Shows how bad the heat is. Everyone doing the same. To help cool down.”
Another customer tweeted that ice cream shelves were left bare at her local store.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “”During the recent heat wave we have seen a real surge in ice-cream sales and our teams are working hard to restock the shelves as quickly as possible.”
Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s were contacted for comment.
It’s not the only time Brits have faced an ice cream crisis this year.
A Cadbury 99p flake shortage hit the UK in May due to an unprecedented demand for the crumbly chocolate.
Cadbury confirmed to The Sun that supply has failed to keep up with a boom in demand for the ice-cream topping staple across the country and Ireland too.
And in another blow to fridges across the UK, The Sun revealed that BBQ supplies could run out as the “pingdemic” forces butchers and meat factory staff into Covid isolation.
As one in ten workers at meat factories are now off work, Nick Allen, of the British Meat Processors Association, told The Sun: “People are going to find choice limited as the BBQ season unfolds.”
