The freshly painted spot sports a sleigh-shaped logo, and has enough space reserved for the nine reindeers that pull the flying vehicle.

Aldi has unveiled a “Sleigh Space” at the top of one of its stores ahead of Christmas

Painted in bright yellow, to safely guide Father Christmas to land from the sky in the dead of night, the giant installation measures 11 metres in length and six metres wide.

Aldi has installed the rooftop parking spot for Santa to bring an extra dose of festive cheer to the Knutsford community.

One shopper said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning.

“As I was heading into Aldi for some early morning shopping, I spotted this magical parking spot for Santa on the roof.

“It’s the kind of Christmas surprise that makes you feel like a kid again.”

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “The Knutsford locals thought they were in for an ordinary day until they spotted the magical parking space we installed on our store’s roof.

“While our middle aisle is known for surprises, this rooftop revelation was specifically crafted for Santa’s visit, aiming to bring delight to our shoppers throughout the festive season.”

Tom Church, co-founder of shopping community LatestDeals.co.uk, previously shared his top tips for the discounter.

First, he said, it’s worth reading the Specialbuys leaflet online which reveals items you can buy online before they’re available in-store.

Next, he explained how its worth opting for private-label brands which offer “great quality at a lower price than competitors”.

Meanwhile, a potentially obvious one, but Aldi’s dupes are well worth keeping an eye out for.

It’s known for its takes on Jaffa Cakes and Gordon’s Gin to its own version of Mini Cheddars.

Lastly, look for red stickers instead of yellow ones.

Most supermarkets whack the coloured stickers on products to show they’ve been reduced, but Aldi uses the rouge colour instead.
