One shopper said: “This is a really good sale this time around.”

“This is always a really good Next sale,” said a second shopper.

A third shopper who was prepping for the launch of the sale said: “I’d even set my alarm for it.”

If you want to visit Next in-store you can find your nearest branch by using the Next store locator on the retailer’s website.

Note that each store may have different opening hours, so it’s best to check with your local branch before going.

But usually on the day of Next sales, some stores open as early as 6am meaning eager shoppers can be queuing outside in the early hours of the morning.

However, if you’d prefer to do your shopping from the comfort of your couch, you can still take advantage of the savings on Next.co.uk.

VIP members have already had access to some of the discounts before the sale officially hit stores today.

Members were invited to sign up for the sale and book in a 45-minute shopping slot prior to the sale going live in stores.

In an email, shoppers were promised at least 50% off most Next sale items, and reductions on brands like Adidas, Nike, Ted Baker and Superdry.

How can I get early access to Next sales?

To receive a VIP Sale invite you will need to have successfully opened a nextpay credit account ahead of any event.

So it’s too late to become a VIP for this event, but you can always sign up ahead of the next one.

Be careful when taking out a store card though.

Interest rates can be very high, so you need to make sure you can pay them off in full each month.

Otherwise, the amount paid in interest will counteract the savings you make in the sale.

Other requirements to become a Next VIP include:

  • Having a Next flexible credit account with at least £250 credit available
  • Placing and keeping an order from the Next Directory within the last year
  • Having an up to date email address registered with Next, and being registered to receive sale and promotional emails
  • Receiving a copy of the Next Directory
  • Returning less than two thirds of the items ordered

All VIP sale slots are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and they’re restricted to one per customer.

Users have the best chance of getting amazing deals by accepting the first slot they’re allocated because things can sell out quickly.

And remember as with any sale it is only a saving if you are buying something that you were looking for anyway.

If you are just buying because something is discounted then you are not necessarily saving money.

Lots of retailers are giving big discounts in at the moment, Ikea has slashed prices by up to 60% in its big summer sale.
