And tests by The Sun suggested potential savings of £62.40 each year drying towels and sheets and another £43.68 with clothes.
Tumble dryers have been described as some of the biggest energy-guzzling appliances in the home, by consumer expert Martyn James.
He says of them, as well as washing machines and dishwashers: “These machines have to quickly generate heat, so can result in them adding a quarter of the cost of your energy bill.”
But he added: “It’s great that this test found dryer balls can help reduce costs.”
