Instead of purchasing a regular boxes of Lindor truffles, Ellie opted for a chocolate advent calendar instead.

The shopper was so delighted she rushed online to money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK to show off her clever trick.

“Needed some Lindor balls for something I’m making,” Ellie wrote in a post.

She continued: “Normal 200g boxes were £4.25.

“Bought two advent calendars for £2.50 each and got 600g (48 chocolates).

“To add they were from Asda.”

Bargain-hunters flocked to the comments to applaud the savvy tip.

A second weighed in: “That’s using your brain!”

A third added: “I did the same with Reese’s advent calendars, £1.80 from Sainsbury’s.”

It comes as shoppers are racing to get their hands on Roses chocolate tubs which are down to £2 and they’re the cheapest around.

Ocado is selling the Christmas favourite 550g tub of Roses chocolates for 60% off.

This means shoppers can bag the tub for £2.35 instead of the usual £6 – a saving of £3.65.

Elsewhere, Tesco shoppers are going wild for “amazing” festive coffees cheaper than Starbucks and it’s putting them in the Christmas spirit.

The supermarket giant is selling Costa Coffee Gingerbread latte and Nescafe Gold Sticky Toffee Pudding lattes for a knock-down price.
