Death of longest-serving female US senator, who was due to retire at end of her term next year, has weighty political implications
Dianne Feinstein, the oldest serving member of the US Senate who blazed a trail for women in American politics, has died. She was 90.
“Sadly, Senator Feinstein passed away last night at her home in Washington DC,” her chief of staff, James Sauls, said in a statement on Friday. “Her passing is a great loss for so many, from those who loved and cared for her to the people of California that she dedicated her life to serving.”
