MOST people know what it’s like to receive annoying spam calls on a regular basis.
What most people may not know, is that there may be a way to put an end to the seemingly never-ending unsolicited calls, and a TikToker has shared the trick.
User @kenny_cowtail posted a clip that shows her typing “#662#” into her phone and turning on the “Scam Block” feature.
The video, which has been seen more than 1.4 million times, is captioned: “And just like that, spam calls are blocked. You’re welcome.”
Unfortunately, many under the viral video’s comments have reported the trick does not work with every carrier.
“PSA: this is only for T-Mobile/MetroPCS users,” claimed one comment.
“I have Verizon and it worked,” added another, while a third person claimed the trick did not work for her even though she also had Verizon.
According to T-mobile’s website, the Scam Block feature does exist.
“In the United States, we get billions of scam and robocalls every year,” says the website. “But Scam ID and Scam Block technologies identify and help stop them—before you ever get the call. Specific callers can also be blocked.”
Aside from dialing #662#, T-Mobile says you can also download the free Scam Shield app and toggle on Scam Block.
You can also log in to My T-Mobile or the T-Mobile app, where you’ll see an option to turn on Scam Block.
Verizon also offers a few options to block spam calls, including signing up for call block, caller ID, anonymous call rejection, and caller ID/call waiting.
