CURRY’S shoppers will want to keep an eye out for secret codes to be in with the chance of nabbing a bargain buy.
The retailer is known for stocking everything from washing machines to laptops and TVs.
But you might not know certain price points reveal whether an item is in clearance or end of line.
Consumer expert Kate Hardcastle explained: “If you find a .97p or similar price point in store, it’s likely to be clearance stock, so therefore a bargain.
“The theory is also that if it’s .98p it is recently discounted.”
Kate added it’s always worth double-checking with a staff member if the item you’re looking at is indeed reduced to clear.
Either way, don’t be ensnared into buying it just because it’s been slashed in price.
“Do a quick online search for the make or model – it could be even cheaper elsewhere,” Kate said.
“If you find it cheaper, have a chat with the staff about a further discount.
“Be friendly and ask directly – even for something ‘extra’ with your purchase rather than a cash discount.”

How else to save money at Curry’s
It’s not just secret codes you want to look out for – there’s a number of hacks that can save you money in Curry’s.
First, Kate recommended, is buying products out of season.
That means grabbing handheld fans in the winter or heated appliances in the summer.
Next, keep an eye out for when a new range launches as this is the time to buy an older model.
Kate said: “Differences between models are usually super minimal and the stores will want to get rid of this stock to promote the new one – usually at a heftier price increase.”
Third, nab discount codes wherever you can.
Kate said Curry’s often partners with banks or insurance providers and supermarket loyalty schemes to offer customers exclusive codes or vouchers to spend in-store or online.
You can use deals websites like www.latestdeals.co.uk to snap up discount vouchers and codes too.
Not just this, but you might be able to get discounts depending on your job.
Blue Light Cards offer emergency workers exclusive discounts across a number of restaurants and retailers, Curry’s included.
In other news, a major high street bakery has plunged into administration, closing all but one branch.
Plus, more Argos stores are set to shut within weeks with 100 at risk of closure.
