A SAVVY shopper has revealed how you can get a free coffee every week if Octopus is your Energy provider.

The reward be claimed on the Octopus app but customers can also get discounted cinema tickets and discounted National Trust passes.  

The deal was shared in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook which has over 2.3million members.

One happy user said: “Fabulous offer on the Octopus Energy app – if you go to your Octopus page (bottom right-hand icon in app home page but you’ll have to opt into Ocotoplus points) there’s an offer on there for a weekly Greggs hot drink.”

“You can activate it once a week and use it by Sunday! It says they’re running it until the end of the year!”

The post racked up over 170 comments with tons of group users tagging their friends and family to tell them to take advantage of the deal. 

One user said: “Free coffee is my favourite coffee.”

“Now I can have a bacon roll and a hot drink together!!!” said another. 

A third user said: “ I haven’t got the app but will now.”

To be eligible for Octoplus, customers have to receive electricity from Octopus Energy, have an operational electric smart meter (i.e. receiving half-hourly readings from it) and pay via Direct Debit. 

Business customers and smart prepayment customers can also join ‘Octoplus’.

Octopus Energy customers can get free weekly coffee at Greggs, weekly cinema tickets from Odeon and quarterly day passes at the National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland.

You can claim your rewards on the Octopus Energy app which you can download on the Google Play store or Apple store.

You must be signed up for Octopus to get the rewards.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product and marketing officer at Octopus Energy Group, commented: “Our customers are already getting paid for shifting their energy usage during grid stress, and now they can even get free drinks and cinema tickets on top.

Energy companies are giving free electric blankets and money-saving gadgets this winter to help customers keep their bills low.

Ovo Energy has launched a £40million Customer Support Package for its customers this winter.

Thousands of customers struggling to pay bills will have access to free energy-saving items like electric blankets and mattress toppers, LED bulbs, SMART sockets, and free boiler servicing.

Octopus Energy has been giving out free electric blankets to help customers keep warm while bills stay high.

The energy companies’ customer support scheme is discretionary meaning those most in need will get the blankets like the elderly and those with with specific medical conditions. 

You should give Octopus a call to see if you can get one.

How to get help with your energy bills

Many energy companies including the ‘big six’ are offering a Warm Home discount this winter.

This is a one-off deduction on energy bills which is usually applied automatically and the amount will vary between companies.

The Cold Weather Payment is also paid to eligible people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

You get £25 for each seven-day period where temperatures are zero degrees Celsius or below between November 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.

Many councils are also providing cost-of-living payments to those struggling through the Household Support fund.
