JUNE 21 is the big date circled in many calendars, as hopes grow we could go “out out” normally again.
But with the average night out pre-Covid costing around £70, it can expensive.
Here is how to save up a decent fund in time for an extra-special knees-up.
I AUTO DO THIS: Set up an automatic transfer to a savings account starting from your next pay day or at the end of each week.
You need to start somewhere . . . and every little counts.
If you pop away £5 each week until June 21, you would have a £75 fund come the big day.
If you set the money to come out on pay day, you probably will not even notice it going.
CHANGE IT UP: If you often pay for things by card, it is worth opening a digital bank account that rounds up your payments.
I like to use Monzo or the Moneybox app.
They round up your purchases to the nearest quid and put the extra into a savings fund.
Lloyds Bank also offers a similar service, called Save The Change.
Even if doing this only added 50p a week, you would have an additional £7.50 come June 21.
COIN IT IN: If you are still using cash as well as going contactless, try keeping a piggy bank or money dish somewhere easily accessible — and drop your loose change in whenever you go past.
Even just £2 a week from now until June 21 would get you an extra £30 towards tipples and treats come that big night out.
CASHBACK: Until the shops fully reopen, much of our shopping will stay online.
Make the most of this by using cashback services such as Quidco and Topcashback, which let you earn dosh back on your online shopping.
There are hundreds of retailers that offer cashback, which can be saved up and withdrawn at a later date.
Every time you shop you could be cashing in — and it all adds up.
I’m sure you could have a pretty penny saved if you got cashback on many of your shops from now until June 21.
