Users can magically remove objects from a snap, expand the view range beyond what the lens can see and scrub out annoying glass reflections.

AI will also get to work on phone calls and messages, allowing people to live translate conversations in up to 13 different languages.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp texts and emails can be translated instantly and it can even change the tone of your message – all carried out on the phone itself without needing to be connected online.

Calling it the “Era of AI”, Samsung revealed the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra to the world on Wednesday.

“The Galaxy S24 series transforms our connection with the world and ignites the next decade of mobile innovation,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

“Galaxy AI is built on our innovation heritage and deep understanding of how people use their phones.

“We’re excited to see how our users around the world empower their
everyday lives with Galaxy AI to open up new possibilities.”

The move comes as Samsung hopes to regain its crown as the biggest selling smartphone company in the world, which was stolen by Apple for the first time in 12 years this week.

Samsung has followed Apple in adopting a super tough titanium build on its Ultra model for the first time.

In a bid to go one step further, the firm announced that its glass display uses a new Corning Gorilla Armor to prevent everyday scratches.

The Galaxy S24’s other top camera improvements include brighter night photography and better zooms for night video too, as well as boosted HDR images and stable wide video.

Expert Paolo Pescatore, from PP Foresight, reacted to the new devices saying: “Some of the new AI powered features are truly ground breaking, cool and of use to everyone such as real time voice interpreter and text translation.

“The former can be performed in flight mode thanks to on device AI which will be mind blowing to users who cannot get a connection or do not want to pay extortionate roaming fees while travelling.”

Much of it is made possible due to a huge hardware upgrade, adopting the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip which The Sun got a glimpse of last year.

This boosts performance for heavy duty tasks like gaming.

Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile at Qualcomm – which makes Snapdragon chips – said: “Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy instills its advanced AI capabilities in the Galaxy S24 series, to enable new experiences with AI features to empower users’ everyday life.”

Other notable upgrades include a major change to the Wi-Fi tech so that it works with the next generation of lightning-fast routers set to come out this year.

The Galaxy S24 is available from January 31.
