SAMSUNG has shown off its brand new Ring device in public for the first time.

The top secret wearable was on display at a major event in Barcelona for all to see – albeit behind a glass panel so no one can touch it.

Two designs were on display in silver and gold.

The Samsung Ring is the company’s latest attempt at wearable tech aimed towards health and fitness fanatics.

It’s fitted with sensors to track things like sleep and breathing.

The ring will also monitor sleep, including how much you move about and how long it takes you to nod off.

Samsung first showed a glimpse of the device during the Galaxy S24 launch in January but this is the first time it’s been seen in the flesh publicly.

Speaking to CNBC, Hon Pak, head of the digital health team at Samsung Electronics, said the ring will calculate a “vitality score” for the wearer which “collects data about physical and mental readiness to see how productive you can be”.

But the Korean tech giant is yet to reveal when the device will be released.

Nor has the company divulged what the price will be.

When the Ring is worn with a Galaxy smart watch users will get different health data.

“Our own customers told us, I want choice,” Pak continued.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 has a number of big AI features

“I want the ability to have other forms of wearables to measure health.

“And some want to wear the watch, some want to wear the watch and the ring and get benefit from both. Some just want more simplicity.”

But Samsung may have some tough competition on the horizon from its biggest rival.

Recent reports claim that Apple is working on its own smart ring device.
