Remember, it’s always worth shopping around to make sure you’re getting the best price on a product.

You can use websites such as trolley.co.uk which let you compare thousands of products across a number of retailers.

It does go off online prices though so won’t reflect what you’ll pay in-store.

You can also use the Google Shopping tab to trawl the internet for the same product and see how prices compare to other retailers.

We checked out a few of the Nectar Price items to see how they compare to other retailers.

Of course, a lot of the new Nectar Price additions are on own-brand products so it’s hard to compare those.

But we checked out some of the branded products to see how they shaped up.

Sainsbury’s shoppers can get the Wasabi Home Bento BBQ Beef with Yakisoba Noodles 400g for £3.75 while Tesco has it for £4.25, 50p more expensive.

Meanwhile, the Charlie Bigham’s Lasange 690g is £7 with a Sainsbury’s Nectar Card and £8.50 on the Tesco Clubcard.

The Pukka cheese and leek potato pie 213g is now £1.50 with a Nectar Card, making it the same price as Morrisons.

Tesco and Asda have the same product on sale for £2 – 50p more expensive.

How does the Nectar Card work?

Sainsbury’s has been part of the Nectar scheme since 2002, buying out Nectar in 2018.

Under the scheme, customers collect points on qualifying purchases, with £1 equalling one point.

You also get one point for every £1 spent on fuel bought at Sainsbury’s petrol stations.

You can collect points shopping at Sainsbury’s, Sainsbury’s Bank, Sainsbury’s Energy, Esso, Expedia, eBay and hundreds of other partners.

You just have to register on the app and swipe it every time you shop and the points are added to your account.

Your points can then be used to get money off future Sainsbury’s shops or at one of its partners.

Each point is effectively worth 0.5p, meaning you need 500 points to get £2.50 off.

In other news, Wilko shoppers have been rushing to buy “bargain” garden furniture for £95 off.

Plus, a major fashion chain is relaunching today after its stores disappeared from the high street.

Sainsbury’s said shoppers with a Nectar Card have saved on average £3.20 per shop since Nectar Prices launched in April.
