Is Sainsbury’s open over the Christmas bank holidays?

At the time of writing, Sainsbury’s are yet to reveal their Christmas opening hours.

This is likely due to the fact that opening hours differ from store to store, as a result of size and location.

As a result, customers are urged to check their nearest branch’s opening hours using the locator tool on the Sainsbury’s website.

You just have to type in your town or postcode and it will show your closest store’s hours.

Trading hours are expected to resume as normal up until Christmas Eve, when stores will operate on usual Sunday trading hours.

Like other supermarkets, Sainsbury’s are then expected to be closed on Christmas Day.

However, on Boxing Day, it is expected that stores will open up once more – but with reduced trading hours.

Normal hours are likely to resume between December 27-30, before reduced hours come back into affect for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Retailers’ opening hours vary so it’s worth checking for each specific branch.

Most supermarkets and large high street chains have store locators on their website which you can use to find the opening hours for your nearest store.

In most cases you just have to enter your postcode into the search bar and it will tell you what time that store is open and closed.

The majority are expected to operate similar opening hours over Christmas and New Year to supermarkets.

What are other supermarkets doing?

All major supermarkets will have their doors open across the festive period, but times may change.

Aldi will be closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year to allow its staff to spend time with friends and family.

Waitrose will also be closing all supermarkets on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Marks & Spencer have announced that they to will be shutting up shop on December 25 and December 26.

Lidl will be pulling the shutters down on all of its shops on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, while the majority will also be closed on Boxing Day.

As for Asda, they will be closing all of their superstores and Express convenience stores on Christmas Day.

However, stores will reopen on Boxing Day, although opening times will vary across the country.
