THE Great Pottery Throw Down has been a surprise hit during lockdown.
But now the Channel 4 series is over, I’m raring to get creative with clay myself — and judging by the viewing figures, you might be too. Here are some great deals on kit to get you started.
DON’T BE A MUG: Get creative at bargain prices with the paint your own mug set, £2.50 at theworks.co.uk. It’s fab for making your cuppa a little more personal. You could even give the finished mug as a gift. Plus, it’s a cheaper alternative to similar kits sold at maisiegray.com for £12.
SAVING: £9.50
GET KITTED OUT: If you are serious about pottery, you’ll need a full kit that contains everything you’ll need to sculpt, carve, paint and seal your own creations. I am loving the Sculpd pottery kit, £39, at sculpd.co.uk. It’s got all the essentials and is cheaper than similar ones sold at Selfridges for £48.
SAVING: £9
SOMETHING OLD: If you have your own plain garden pots or old ceramics, why not spruce them up with a little metallic paint — or task your kids with getting arty? I love the Wilko metallic paints, £3.50 for six, for adding eye-catching designs. Similar paints costs £15.99 at arteza.co.uk.
SAVING: £12.49
FIRST-TIMERS: For something more kid- friendly, nab the Galt first pottery set, £13 at hobbycraft.co.uk. Other kids’ sets are around £20 at Argos and this one is nice and basic so even young ones (six and up) can have fun.
SAVING: £7

TOP TIP
WIPING down your skirting boards with a little fabric softener or Fabulosa will prevent the build-up of dust and keep your home smelling amazing at all times.
If you’re always buying scented candles, this is a cheap way to ensure everything smells fresh at all times.
Top swap
Skincare is so important. I love the Inkey List Retinol Serum, £9.99 for 30ml at Boots.
But far better value is Poundland’s new Retinol Facial Serum, £3 for 25ml, which is part of the budget chain’s new skincare range.
