SINCE its launch last November, millions of gamers around the world have struggled to bag a PlayStation 5.

In the UK, rumours swirl almost daily about new stock drops at the likes of Smyths Toys, Argos, GAME, and Amazon.

Most of the time these time out to be untrue, but even when new consoles DO drop, they seem to be snapped up before most us even have a chance to get on the websites.

    Video game company Square Enix has revealed the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 14 will go into Open Beta on April 13.

    It will feature 4K resolution support as well as faster loading times.

    February 26th is the soonest that Smyths Toys UK is predicted to have a new batch of PS5 stock, according to twitter account PS5StockAlertUK.

  • CURRYS’ NEXT PS5 DROP RUMOURED TO POSSIBLY DROP TOMORROW

    Currys has been tipped to have more PS5 stock on Monday, February 8, according to Twitter tipster @PS5StockUK.

    It adds that “more updates are to be announced in coming weeks”, for those patient gamers willing to wait that long.

  • SONY STRUGGLING TO MEET PS5 DEMAND DUE TO ‘CHIP SHORTAGE’

    Japanese electronics and media giant Sony Corp said it was struggling to keep up with pandemic-fuelled demand for the new PlayStation 5 amid a global shortage of semi-conductors.

    Sony, which launched the PS5 in core markets November 2020, said last week that it expected to sell more than 7.6million consoles by the end of March – thanks to pent-up gamers hit by Covid lockdowns.

    The shift to the new games console is also expected to encourage gamers to move to online downloads or subscription services, helping Sony boost the profitability of its gaming unit.

    But Sony warned that it was struggling to match demand due to the chip shortage that has hurt production from businesses ranging from smartphone makers to car companies.

    “It is difficult for us to increase production of the PS5 amid the shortage of semi-conductors and other components,” chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki told reporters.

  • WILL GAME HAVE PS5 STOCK THIS WEEK?

    Game could hopefully see PS5 stock dropping on Tuesday February 9, reports What Hi Fi.

    “Game has confirmed it will ship PS5s on 26th February.

    “Going by the company’s past sales, Game’s next PS5 restock could take place as soon as Tuesday 9th February,” the website says.

    The Sun Online has double-checked Game’s website this afternoon, and it says there are currently no PS5 consoles available.

  • LATEST ON PS5 RESTOCK AT BT

    BT Shop has confirmed on its website that it has again “sold out of our current allocation of Playstation 5”.

    But, according to What Hi Fi, “stock is due soon”.

    It’s not clear when exactly that’ll happen, unfortunately.

  • WILL THERE BE PS5 STOCK AT JOHN LEWIS NEXT WEEK?

    John Lewis might have a fresh lot of PS5s available from Tuesday, February 9.

    Predicted on Twitter by tipster @PS5StockAlertUK, this suggested drop is based on previous restocks.

    John Lewis is also tipped to have stock availability on February 16 and March 17, the account adds.

    Its website says this afternoon that there aren’t any PS5 consoles available.

  • ONE METRE OF SNOW IN GERMANY

    While Brits are braced for Beast from the East II, Germany has been pummelled by a snowstorm and strong winds.

    In the western city of Muenster, more than 30cm (almost 12 inches) of snow has fallen, piling up to one metre (over 3ft) in some parts.

    Police said 28 people were injured on icy roads due to hundreds of road accidents in northern and western Germany.

    Trains have been cancelled, and authorities have brought homeless people into warm shelters amid the sub-zero temperatures.

    German Weather Service, DWD, urged people to stay at home.

  • AMAZON UK LOOKING PROMISING FOR MONDAY RESTOCK

    Amazon UK is being tipped to have more PS5 stock available from tomorrow, February 8, predicts @PS5StockAlertUK on Twitter.

    February 15 is another possible day for new consoles to become available, it adds. Stretching forward to next month, March 22 is also being suggested.

    Amazon’s website is still showing that consoles are “unavailable”.

    Like other retailers, it unhelpfully says: “We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”

  • WHAT’S THE LATEST RESTOCK NEWS FOR CURRYS?

    Currys’ website is also saying “the new PS5 has now sold out. We are working tirelessly to secure more stock”.

    But, hopefully Currys PC World will be selling fresh PS5s from Wednesday, February 10, or Feb 17.

    This is according to @PS5StockAlertUK – basing predictions on previous drops.

    Failing those dates, it’s possible Currys will get more PS5s on March 24, it adds.

  • LATEST ON VERY PS5 RESTOCK IN UK

    Very customers could see a PS5 drop as soon as Tuesday, February 9, predicts a hopeful tipster on Twitter.

    @PS5StockAlertUK says another possible restock could hit Very’s shelves on March 23 – the same day predicted for Argos and AO.

    Meanwhile, a search of Very’s website this afternoon shows the following:

  • LATEST ON ARGOS PS5 RESTOCK

    Argos is predicted to have another PS5 drop around Monday, February 22, suggests @PS5StockAlertUK.

    And a further restock for Argos could be on March 23, the Twitter tipster reckons.

    It’s at pains to point out, though, that these predictions are based purely on previous restocks – so aren’t guaranteed!

    The Sun Online has checked Argos’ website at midday today, and it’s still showing as ‘unavailable’.

    It does say “we’re working hard to make this available as soon as possible” – but there’s no date advertised for a restock.

  • PS5 ‘RISKY AND GREEDY’ SCALPER WARNING

    On Twitter, a tipster warns they’ve “seen a lot of people posting that they have bought from a scalper via eBay etc.

    “Please do not. It is very risky and also gives them another reason to continue buying all the stock.

    “Please be patient,” adds @PS5UKNews.

  • FEBRUARY 18 PS5 DROP LIKELY IN UK

    The “consensus is that a proper PS5 restock is set for mid-February.

    “One [Twitter] account pinpoints the date as Thursday, February 18,” advises T3 of the next big UK drop.
