SONY announced that it will be providing PS4 and PS5 players free access to online multiplayer this Valentine’s Day weekend.
The gaming system giant is giving its players a special Valentine’s Day treat all weekend long: free access to online multiplayer.

“Share the multiplayer love this Valentine’s Day! Play online with family and friends from February 12-14,” the company wrote on their PlayStation blog.
Throughout the weekend, gamers will be able to play multiplayer online in any PS4 or PS5 game that would normally require a PS Plus subscription.
Sony specifically mentioned in its blog EA SPORTS UFC 4, NBA 2K22, and FIFA 22 as some suggestions for players to try out.
However, Games Radar noted that the “free” package only applies to the “online multiplayer” feature, as users do need to actually own the games they wish to play beforehand.
The only way to actually get free games from Sony is to join their monthly PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscription plan.
The subscription will set you back either $9.99 monthly, $24.99 quarterly, or $59.99 yearly.

The service gives members three free PlayStation games to download each month before the month is up.
The February 2022 free games include UFC 4, Planet Coaster Console Edition, and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure.
The announcement comes as rumors are swirling that PlayStation might be switching up the service soon to compete with Xbox’s Game Pass.
The company likely also wants to cater to fans who have slammed the PS Plus service for recycling older games as opposed to dropping new ones.
