POUNDLAND has launched a brand new own-label range to help shoppers with the cost of living.

Dubbed The Manor Grove range, customers can now get their hands on a number of cheaper alternatives to the big brands.

Lovers of Heinz ketchup which usually costs £2.75 in Poundland, can get a bottle of the Manor Grove version for just £1.

This means the average shopper would save £1.75 on each bottle of ketchup bought.

While the Manor Grove ketchup is 17% smaller than Heinz’s offering, at 380g versus 460g, it’s still 64% cheaper.

A Poundland spokesperson said: “We know that UK branded ketchup prices were recently highlighted as being some of the highest in Europe.

“So whether people are red or brown sauce fans, we hope the launch of a new range exclusive to our stores gives a bit of bacon butty relief.”

The own-label items which are now being rolled out in all 700 Poundland stores include several popular condiments and gravy granules.

It comes after The Grocer reported that a Manor Grove trademark was registered by private label advisory firm Baleigh Investments.

The brand now applies to a long list of condiments and sauces, as well as tinned food and oils.

The discounter has told The Sun that more lines will be added in the coming weeks.

Customers shopping online at Poundshop.com, Poundland’s website can also get their hands on some of the products that are already available.

But for some items, Poundland’s Manor Grove range isn’t as cheap as competing supermarket ranges.

For example, Asda shoppers can bag Just Essentials Ketchup for 60p a pop.

And Morrisons Saver’s gravy costs 40p – 60p less than Poundland’s Manor Grove version which costs £1.

The launch of the new brand comes just a few months after the chain slashed the price of dozens of products across its branches.

There were price drops on everything from four packs of Galaxy bars, Multi-Grain Rice Krispies and even smoke alarms.

The discount chain will also expand its chilled and frozen grocery rollout to 24 more stores from July 1.

Popular items in the range so far have included products from brands such as Ginsters, Cathedral City, Lurpak, Sutherland sandwiches and Rustlers cheeseburgers.

The range is there to rival the likes of frozen food giant Iceland.

How can I save money when shopping at Poundland?

It’s not just about looking for the cheapest items in Poundland – there’s other ways to save money at the retailer.

You should visit first thing in the morning, when your local branch will be fully stocked from the day before.

Meanwhile, it’s always worth checking out the clearance shelves – even in Poundland you can get items for cheaper than usual.

Where the clearance shelf is will vary from store-to-store, so if you’re not sure where it is, ask a staff member.

You can always check prices on the Poundland website too – if you find a product online at a certain price and it’s not that in your local branch, you can ask a manager whether they can price match for you.

They aren’t obliged to, but it’s always worth asking.
