Currently, when you have a contact blocked on the app they are not able to privately message or call you.

However, in group chats, you still see their activity.

WABetlnfo’s new feature would introduce an option to hide messages from those blocked contacts in the group chat.

The message would not be removed from the conversation but rather marked as hidden for you.

WABetInfo says the feature would be available for people in their chat settings.

They wrote: “This enhancement is designed to provide users with greater control over their group chat experience, ensuring that they can still participate without being disrupted by messages from contacts they’ve chosen to block.”

WEBetaInfo believes that introducing this concept would greatly improve many users’ experience.

They acknowledge that people block contacts “often for personal reasons” and seeing that contact in common groups “can be disruptive for users”.

Although this feature is not currently available on WhatsApp – WEBetaIfo hopes the concept could be implemented in future updates.

They said: “We believe that this feature would be a significant step forward in improving control over blocked contacts on WhatsApp.”

WhatsApp is the most-used social messaging app in the world, with more than 2billion global users.

It is predicted that this number will reach 3.14billion users by 2025.

It comes after WhatsApp rolled out a host of new features including more efficient ways to send photos.

The change allowed photos and videos to be sent in their original quality without reducing the size.

WhatsApp also recently added a new “emergency” account lock-out feature – which allows you to log in to your account via email.
