Councillor warns immigration centre assault could inspire more incidents amid anti-refugee rhetoric

Police are being urged to treat Sunday’s petrol bomb attack on an immigration centre in Dover as a terrorist incident, amid growing concern that anti-refugee rhetoric from ministers could be encouraging such behaviour.

The call came as police investigating the incident confirmed that the suspect, who killed himself after the suspected attack, was a 66-year-old man from High Wycombe. His property is being searched.
