ROKU users have been left furious after an unexpected change to their devices – but there is a way to reverse it.

The change happened over the weekend and subscribers of the service flooded social media with complaints.

The change came in the form of a huge Taylor Swift wallpaper that was promoting her Eras Tour film on Disney+, much to the anger of many of the service’s users.

The vivid image appeared as a surprise without asking paying subscribers if they wanted to change their device’s theme to feature the multi-award winning pop star.

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour banked just over £10million per night and attracted roughly 72,000 fans at each show – proving to be a giant success.

The Eras tour film – which the streaming theme is promoting – was shot over three days in LA, and runs for almost three hours.

Roku users jumped on X (formerly Twitter) tagging the service and venting their rage at the intrusive change.

One user said: “Really hating having Taylor Swift on my screen when on Roku. Why are you pushing her down our throat like this? How do I get rid of it?”

A second user said: “Roku, everyone isn’t into Taylor Swift, her as a wallpaper should be optional.”

A third user said: “I feel like Disney and Roku are forcing Taylor Swift on me, please get this lady off my TV. I don’t like nor listen to her.

Luckily, there is a way to turn it off.

Users who want to change their background back to their previous one just need to go into the app’s settings and turn off “sponsored wallpapers”.

But not everyone was furious, with many Swifties  sharing their joy at seeing their hero taking over their Roku screens.

One user said: “Love that they have a theme for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour on the Home Screen for Roku!”

And a second said: “Look who’s taken over Roku this morning, I love it.”
