Microsoft owns a number of huge gaming studios, which has allowed them to develop quite a few exclusive games.

Some studios Microsoft has acquired have continued to develop and support games on multiple platforms.

A classic example of this is Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, which is still on multiple platforms, including PlayStation, and Nintendo.

However, this isn’t the same for all studios that Microsoft has purchased.

More in PlayStation

After Microsoft bought Bethesda in 2021, Microsoft changed major release Starfield so that it was only released on Xbox and Windows.

Activision Blizzard is a major publisher which owns a number of major studios and gaming properties.

Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Candy Crush all come under the Activision Blizzard banner.

PlayStation owners were worried that once the acquisition went ahead, these games would be removed from sale on their consoles.

However, Xbox has assured players on all platforms that they will continue to release Activision Blizzard titles everywhere people play games.

The blog post reads: “Whether you play on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC or mobile, you are welcome here – and will remain welcome, even if Xbox isn’t where you play your favorite franchise.

“Because when everyone plays, we all win. We believe our news today will unlock a world of possibilities for more ways to play.”

Despite this, messages like these have still left others worried about the future of major franchises like Call of Duty.

Microsoft has made these promises before, but then changed these decisions closer to certain games’ releases.

All that players on other consoles can do for now is hope that Microsoft keeps its promise.
