According to a Metacritic review from GameCritics, the title is “a remaster done correctly, feeling like the original with technical improvements that help to showcase its timeless, quick and smooth gameplay.”

While critics from PlayStation Country, wrote on the review site: “Quake finally gets the love it deserves after twenty-five years in the dark, with by far the most comprehensive remastered collection to date.

“Modernised without losing anything in the process, Night Dive have created something special by not only bringing the core experience back, but with all the expansions, new episodes, and a boatload of features that players can tune to their liking.

“This release takes an important yet aging technical milestone and turns it into an essential experience that is both worthy of a new audience and the embrace of old fans.”

It’s not just critics who are fans – players love it too.

Although, there is a handful of subpar reviews that complain about now-patched-up bugs.

One player wrote on Metacritic: “Fantastic remaster of the OG deathmatch game that holds up very well.

“It’s still very fun, largely due to how fast-paced it is in comparison to today’s slower-paced FPS games. Campaign is still great as well.

“The graphics are remastered nice and crisp, though it IS from 1996 so obviously it doesn’t hold a candle to today’s graphics.

“Soundtrack is the original Nine Inch Nails soundtrack, which is awesome.
