ONE of PlayStation’s biggest studios has been the target of a ransomware attack from hackers.
The group stole employees’ personal data, information on planned and upcoming games, and footage from unreleased games.
Originally, the group asked for money in exchange for the stolen data, but it appears that the company refused to pay.
Insomniac Games is one of PlayStation’s largest studios, and the developer behind Ratchet & Clank, and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The company is also working on a number of unreleased games, such as the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine.
A huge amount of data has been released by the group, including all the unreleased details about the game in development.
More in PlayStation
The entire plot, cast list, and planned release window for Marvel’s Wolverine are all online, as well as gameplay footage, cutscenes and concept art.
This is devastating to both Insomniac and PlayStation, as the game is still a work in progress, and many parts of it are still being developed.
Essentially, the footage does not represent the final product, but people viewing it online are already giving their opinions.
Not only this, but the company’s pipeline has also been revealed including plans for upcoming Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank and X-Men games.

Many gaming projects are thought up as concepts but never reach the development stage.
Others begin development but are cancelled in the early stages if they don’t show promise.
This is extremely common in game development, and only a small portion of games planned ever hit the store shelves.
Financial information about released games was also included in the leak, giving crucial information to PlayStation’s competitors.
This leak is one of the largest in video gaming history and has huge implications for future PlayStation and Insomniac projects.
