APPLE’S AirPods are great for music on the go, but searching for the right app in your extensive library is the last thing you want when running for your next train.
Luckily for you, there’s a little-known Apple feature that makes this process easier every time you’re in a rush but want to switch on the tunes.

It means that whenever you connect your AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones to your iPhone – your chosen music app will automatically open.
It can even be triggered when CarPlay is connected, to make your journey a wee bit quicker.
TechRadar’s Josephine Watson called this her “ride-or-die” automation trick.
And it all relies on Apple’s Shortcuts app.
Simply open the app and tap Automation on the bottom of the screen.
Then tap the plus sign to create a new automation.
Next, tap Create personal automation and choose your trigger – be it Bluetooth or CarPlay.
If you’re opting for a Bluetooth trigger, be sure to specify exactly which device you mean.

However, there’s no need to think too hard about which device you want to choose.
This is because you can create more personal automations for your other Bluetooth devices, like a portable speaker, later on.
Finally, select Add action and you’ll be able to choose the music app you want to open automatically, such as Spotify or YouTube Music.
Apple Music users should search for the Play Music button and tap Music in the newly created action and choose a song, playlist or radio to play when the shortcut is activated.
This way, the next time you connect your AirPods to your iPhone, your top anthems will automatically play with no extra effort on your part.
