APPLE has hidden a clever message inside the logo of one of its most popular apps.
The Voice Memos app comes pre-installed on every iPhone, so you’ll have definitely seen the icon.
But only true Apple fans will have noticed what’s special about the logo.
It’s a black background with a red-and-white waveform on it.
That makes sense, as the iPhone app lets you record audio files – and a waveform represents the shape and form of sound signals.
It turns out that the waveform matches the sound of someone saying “Apple”.
The clever Easter egg was discovered by designer and app maker Mike Rundle back in 2015.
Try it, although note that the waveform might differ for you depending on your pronunciation, accent and pacing.
The US Sun was able to get a very similar waveform in highly scientific tests on our own iPhone.
It’s also possible that you could achieve a similar waveform with another two-syllable phrase.

That’s not the only Apple app logo secret…
Apple Maps logo
The Apple Maps app logo is globally recognizable, and it shows a very specific location.
It might just look like some intersecting roads to most people.
But keen Apple fans should recognize the location.
It’s actually the road passing near to the giant Apple Park HQ in Cupertino, California.
The map isn’t perfectly accurate, but it does show Interstate 280 crossing over in yellow, intersecting with N Wolfe Rd.
And in the top-right corner, you can see part of the circular Apple Park spaceship campus building.
It wasn’t always this way.
The old Apple Maps logo instead showed 1 Infinite Loop, which was the long-time HQ for Apple.
But in 2017, the logo was changed to celebrate the opening of the new Apple Park campus.
Apple has always used various iterations of its campus maps for the Apple Maps icon.
