VIRGIN Media has reminded web surfers to be careful of where they put their Wi-Fi router if they want top connection speeds.

In an email to customers, the internet service provider encouraged one underused cable trick to stop their Wi-Fi from slowing down.

All sorts of things can make a Wi-Fi connection sluggish.

Be it a microwave or TV messing with your signals.

A fridge or metal beams inside the building physically blocking internet waves.

Or even having signals shoot straight out the window – the slow Wi-Fi possibilities are endless.

That’s why internet service providers like Virgin Media have to remind customers, from time to time, about best practice.

So, talk of the trusty ethernet cable has circled around again.

The ethernert socket allows you to hard wire your gadgets right into the fibre cables.

This way, there shouldn’t be anything that slows things down.

“Sometimes the trusty old ethernet cable is needed to ensure that the signal never lags or fumbles like an ice-skating toddler,” Virgin said in its email.

To set it up, simply find the ethernet plug.

Then insert one end of the ethernet cable into one of the yellow slows on the back of the Wi-Fi hub.

Next, insert the other end into your chosen device and what the fast speeds flood in.
