SHARING Wi-Fi passwords can be a hassle especially with all the long letters, numbers and characters.

Fortunately iPhone and Android devices have a way to share them easily using QR codes.

And soon PC users will be able to share it with smartphones as well.

The latest test build of Windows 11 has revealed that Microsoft is working on such a feature.

It means your computer will generate a QR code for your Wi-Fi that so anyone you show it to can scan to join.

The tool is found under Wi-Fi properties, where a QR code is displayed.

Use your device’s camera app to scan it and you’ll be automatically connected onto the network without having to type out a password.

Among the tweaks to Microsoft’s operating system is also the ability to see which apps have access to your list of Wi-Fi networks around your local area, reports TechRadar.

Apps that do this can be a cause for concern as it could be used to pinpoint your location.

Once the new build of Windows 11 is released, you’ll be able to block them from doing this.

It’ll be under Settings, then Privacy & Security, followed by Location.

“To simplify the process of sharing your location with trusted apps, we have also added a new prompt that will appear the first time an app attempts to access your location or Wi-Fi information,” Microsoft explained.

“This prompt will enable location services and allow the app to access your location, helping you complete tasks such as finding directions or checking the weather without navigating to Settings.”

Both new features are currently available on the latest Windows 11 test, preview build 25977.

It’s not clear when the update will be made available to the general public.
