Famous celebrities who use the site include Bella Thorne, Cardi B, Megan Barton Hanson and Kerry Katona.

A lot of content creators on the platform charge fans for explicit images and videos of themselves.

OnlyFans is reportedly seeking new funding of over $1billion (£717million), according to Bloomberg.

The British startup is said to be working with an advisor who could widen its pool of investors.

This could involve making OnlyFans a more mainstream platform and taking a step away from its pornographic reputation.

Some people already use the platform for things other than explicit content.

Cardi B charges fans $4.99 a month for content like behind the scenes of her music videos and Q&As.

The singer made it clear when she joined the platform last year that there wouldn’t be nudity on her site.

Bella Thorne, who is said to have made $2million within days of joining the service, also said she wouldn’t be creating full nudity content.

The coronavirus pandemic is thought to have increased the popularity of OnlyFans and made it more of a household name.

It went from 20 million users pre-Covid to over 120 million, according to the Financial Times.

What is OnlyFans?

Here’s what you need to know…

OnlyFans is a subscription content service based in London – with an app that has millions of users.

Users can charge monthly fees for access to X-rated images, video and more.

“Whether you’re uploading tutorials, tips, behind-the-scenes footage or just endless selfies, a lot of your followers would be willing to pay for them,” states OnlyFans.

For every subscription that’s sold to a viewer, performers get 80 percent of the cash while OnlyFans gets the rest.

The company was founded by Timothy Stokely in 2016.

“Uber is a bolt-on to your car just as OnlyFans is a bolt-on to your existing social media,” he told Wired last year.

In other news, Microsoft’s new Windows 11 operating system has reportedly leaked online before the company even had a chance to announce it.

Apple boss Tim Cook has made a subtle dig at Google, claiming that the firm’s Android operating system is littered with dodgy software.

And, Spotify has launched a new “Only You” feature for its Android and iOS app.
