Pearson has taken on a former Twitter executive to be its chairman as it speeds up a transition to online learning.

Omid Kordestani, 58, will join the education publisher in March and take over from Sidney Taurel at the annual meeting in April.

He will help spearhead the launch of an online subscription service that contains its 1,500 textbooks. He was chief business officer at Google.

He is also on the board of buy-now-pay-later firm Klarna.
